2020 Overview

No pressure, Capricorn! But this year, all astrological eyes are on you.

With Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter all converging in your sign at the start of 2020, you're definitely in the hot seat. How do you stand it? Ironically, not by “going hard,” but by softening, opening, and accepting. Your opposite sign of Cancer shows you how.

Saturn joins Pluto in your sign on January 12, just two days after a Cancer lunar eclipse. You're faced with the reality that, strong and competent as you are, there's only so much you can handle or accomplish on your own. How might your life be transformed if you finally accepted your own limitations and let someone else help?

Generous Jupiter also aligns with Pluto three times this year, and their second meeting on June 29 falls between a solar eclipse in Cancer (June 20) and a lunar eclipse in your sign (July 4). As you continue your personal metamorphosis, you're able to find meaning in the difficulties and trust that whatever's happening is for the highest good.

Through it all, take good care of yourself so body, mind, and spirit can support and sustain you. A sextile between Jupiter in your sign and Neptune in Pisces (February 20, July 27, and October 12) helps you channel your impressive self-discipline into treating yourself—and others—with greater compassion.

This will serve you well in the later part of the year, when Mars in Aries squares Jupiter (August 4, October 18), Pluto (August 13, October 9, December 23), and Saturn (August 24, September 29) in your sign. Things at home can get a little tense, with conflicts arising over domestic duties, caregiving responsibilities, or even holiday plans. Take a breath and remind yourself: You're all in this together.

After all, Capricorn, with Saturn dividing his time this year between your sign and Aquarius (your house of self-worth and values), it's time to focus on what really matters. Saturn's Great Conjunction with Jupiter in Aquarius on December 21 begins a new 20-year cycle, so you'll want to start it off on the right foot!

2020 Love & Romance

Don't get too comfortable, Capricorn: You may think you've gotten used to Uranus in Taurus (your romance and dating house), but this year he's still got some tricks up his sleeve!

When it comes to love, it's easy to get set in your ways. You know what you like… and good luck enticing you to try anything different. But from June through August, planets transiting your opposite sign of Cancer sextile Uranus, inspiring greater willingness to venture out of your comfort zone to please your partner (and hopefully, yourself). Exposing yourself to new experiences is a vulnerable feeling, but with Mercury making this aspect three times (June 5, June 30, and July 22), we bet you'll learn to love it.

After all, Capricorn, even if lovers are turned on by your take-charge ways, you can't always be the one in control. Sometimes you've got to let your partner lead the way—or at least, meet them halfway. Fortunately, Mercury spends extra time in sensitive Cancer (May 28-August 4, retrograde June 17-July 12) and trines Neptune in Pisces on July 30, opening channels of compassionate communication about their feelings, needs, and desires.

Still, it may be hard to avoid a power struggle, with Mercury, the sun, and Venus in Cancer opposing Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in your sign (July-early September). A T-square to hotheaded Mars in Aries only raises the emotional stakes.

Then, when the sun, Mercury, and Venus move on to Leo—your eighth house of sex and intimacy—they square off with wild-card Uranus (August 2, August 10, and September 15, respectively). If you've been bending over backwards to make a partner happy, you may feel it's time to take back the upper hand.

But here's the thing, Capricorn: In a truly happy and healthy relationship, there is no upper hand. Sure, one person (i.e., you) may naturally fall into the more dominant role, but that's only cool if it works for both of you. Together, you negotiate the balance of give-and-take, lead-and-follow that makes sense for your unique dynamic.

2020 Finance & Career

Get forward-focused, Capricorn!

With your ruling planet Saturn spending several months in visionary Aquarius (March 21-July 1), this year you're making major investments in the future—even if that means having to pinch your pennies in the here-and-now. Whether you're saving up for a big-ticket item, building your financial safety net, or earmarking funds for a political or humanitarian cause, the sacrifice will be well worth it.

After dipping briefly back into your sign, Saturn will reenter Aquarius in December and align with Jupiter on the twenty-first. This Great Conjunction represents the start of a new 20-year cycle concerning your income and finances. Consider the roles that frugality (Saturn) and generosity (Jupiter) play in your life, and how you might better balance the two.

Another pair of “opposites” you'll be mixing this year is business and pleasure, with lovely Venus spending four months in Gemini, your work house (April 3-August 7). Venus' retrograde period from May 12-June 24 is a time to check in and take stock of how satisfied you are with your current job. Is it giving you the flexibility, variety, and opportunities for social interaction that you crave? If not, how can you bring more of these things into your working life? It may not require a job change, just a little imagination.

Later in the year, Mercury divides his time between Libra (September 5-27, October 27-November 10) and Scorpio (September 27-October 27, November 10-December 1). With these signs ruling your houses of career and networking, it's the perfect time for connecting with your colleagues. It's all too easy to fall into the trap of regarding them with suspicion—as competition, not collaborators—but this old-paradigm mentality has got to go!

After all, Capricorn, success doesn't have to be a zero-sum game—what's good for one is good for all.
